Questions and
Answers
Q
I can buy a rusty old Range Rover classic with no MOT for £500 is
this a suitable basis as a donor vehicle for Storm Warrior?
A
Not really, get the best donor vehicle you can afford, when you strip
the donor vehicle you can sell most of the panels for lots of money
especially on post hidden hinge models 1989 on i.e. hidden hinge door
rust free £100+, hidden hinge bonnet £250+, top tail gate rust free
£125+, lower tail gate £125 so as you can see by selling all the
good parts the donor vehicle could stand you in nothing.
Q What
would you recommend as the best donor?
A
Without a doubt I would look for a pre air suspension 3.9U8 vogue in
fact the demo car is 3.9 automatic (1989) bought in 2000 as a damaged
vehicle for £800, I got back more than £800 when I sold the panels
and wheels.

Q
Where would I look for a donor vehicle?
A
That’s easy, in any of the 4 Land rover magazines published monthly,
Exchange & Mart, The Trader, Salvage Dealers etc.
Q
What parts of the donor vehicle
should be in good condition?
A
I personally would use a vehicle with a rust free chassis, bulk head,
fuel tank etc, and since you use the engine/gearbox, axles, brakes,
and prop shafts, they should be as good as possible, it is important
that you drive the vehicle before purchase.
Q
How much mechanical experience do I require?
A
"Average" do it yourself, is all that is required. No
mechanical parts need to be removed they all stay on the chassis.
Q
Do I need specialist tools?
A
A set of spanners, socket set, hacksaw, 41/2 disc cutter mig welder
would be good, but not essential
Q
I thought the steel module you supply in the kit, bolts onto the
chassis, so what needs welding?
A
You are right the steel module bolts to the chassis. A small amount of
welding is required and is best to leave the welding to an expert. All
the welding will take at most 1 hour to weld 4 bumper plates to the
chassis.
Q
How long will it take me to build?
A
I would think around 14 weekends, the first weekend would be used to
strip the donor vehicle, the next to prepare donor, and so on. You
will need the help of some friends to help with lifting, and remember
"Storm Warrior" comes in the colour of your choice.
Q
What interior do I use?
A
The Range Rover front seats stay in their original position, along
with most of the dashboard, switches, heater, wiring, front carpet. I
supply in the kit a new dashboard top and instrument binnacle.

Q
How strong is Storm Warrior compared with the Range Rover classic?
A
No comparison, "Storm Warrior" is a real tough vehicle,
although lighter than the Range Rover, it has much stronger side, and
rollover protection. The front and rear bumpers are ¼ inch thick
(6mm)steel. The bonnet, doors, rear 1/4 inch (6mm) thick glass fibre
so when you drive "Storm Warrior" you know you and your
"passengers" will be safe.
Q
Why don’t I need an ‘SVA’?
A
Because "Storm Warrior" uses the Range Rover chassis and
running gear.
Q
OK I want one, how soon can I get a kit and what deposit do I need?
A
Great you’re a wise man. It takes around 8 weeks for a complete kit,
I require 20% deposit plus 80% when you pick-up the kit.
NO SVA REQUIRED
